Jamaica should not take any imports from Canada without a commitment from them to take Jamaican goods and at low to no tariffs. The deal must not put Jamaica in an adverse position with Canada. Jamaica must become less dependent so jamaica is less vulnerable, more safe and profitable. The deal with Canada must make us more independent, richer. Canada’s immigration policy towards the Caribbean has been draconian since recently and they have not been fair trading partners. Now Canada today wants to do business with the Caribbean, as they face Trump’s Tariffs.  The Caribbean must not engage unless Canada plays fair and take Jamaican goods and services. GregFergus visited Jamaicas Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Monday in the wake of the 25 % US tariffs.

The tariffs by Donald Trump now allows Jamaica to rebolster their agricultural sector and exports to the US as they now can compete with #Mexican and Canadian goods in the US.
